Adventures in Color Space

So recently I was hired at Rainmaker Entertainment as a Jr. Lighting/Compositor Artist. I know that I don't necessarily have the technical understanding for a lot of things involved in the production process but I had no idea how much of a difference a little something called color space made. I knew what rgb and cmyk was in terms of printing and I knew there was some underlying things I had no idea about but brushing it off as tech stuff I spent my time in grad school focused on other things. I really wish there had been a more in depth coverage of this topic in some way, shape, or form in school. The topic is quite involved and can explain alot of the input/output printing problems we had. Anyway enough regrets, I'm learning now.
There are lots of tech blogs out there with involved explainations for this and I won't try to re-explain everything as I don't have a full handle on details yet but as I learn more I will post links here to help anyone who may look here and is interested in this topic.
EVERY artist no matter your medium should have an understanding of digital colorspace. Your work is viewed on a computer one way or another.
